Welcome to the Highlander Studios blog.

I won't promise any earth shattering revelations here. What I will be trying to do is post some new products as I release them, share some thoughts on gaming and show some pics of games and other stuff that I enjoy. So come in and make yourselves at home.

Space Pals for Red Cross

Please note changes to the donation amounts below. All of this year the post office has been charging parcel rate instead of envelope rate for the figures being sent out. Something to do with maximum thickness of envelopes and such. I've been paying between $3 and $6 for each order. I've absorbed the cost by taking it out of what I keep for production, but after 9 months of that I need to make an adjustment. As of October 1, 2012 each character set will now be a flat $10. I have also started quarterly payments to Red Cross instead of monthly. See the bottom of the page for this quarter's contribution.

The Space Pals for Red Cross miniatures series was launched in early July. It is the product of some interpretive fan sculptures of pop icons and the suggestion from a buddy at TMP (thanks, 28mm Man) that proceeds be donated to charity. The goal is to reimburse mold making, casting and sculpting costs over time while collecting donations for the Red Cross. Participants will receive the 15mm figures in each set for each donation they make.

I am pleased and encouraged by the participation during the month of July. I received donations for 35 sets. With the $3 from each and the extra that some participants sent, I made the donation to the Red Cross today for $116. Thank-you all for your support and generosity.

My current plan is to keep participation open for each set and to release new sets each quarter. I'll provide direct links to the donation page at PayPal for each set. Anyone wishing to donate may pick the current or any previous set available.

Thanks again for your participation. Watch this space for updates.

October - December update: Eight sets were ordered with additional donations of $24 for these three months. The total donation made to Red Cross was $48.

June 2012 update. During the first half of the year I received donations for 14 sets ($42) plus and additional $6 in donations for Red Cross. Total amount donated was $48.

Quarter 3, 2012 donations were for 73 sets ($219) plus $14 extra sent by you guys for a total donation of $233. Fantastic, folks!

Quarter 4, 2012 donations were for 31 sets ($93) plus $23 extra. Total dontation of $116 sent this afternoon.

Quarter 1, 2013 Donations were for 18 sets ($54) plus $12 extra. Total donation of $66.

I realize I'm a year late to the party, but is there any chance any of these super cool minis are still around?

Jim, I'm not sure if this got answered elsewhere, but there is no extra post for orders outside the US. The $3.00 usually covers up to 3 sets worth of weight.

Wow! I just came across these. I hope the 2nd set is available soon and the minions soon after that!

Hopefully the second set will be ready to ship in a week or two. Depends on how quickly the mold maker gets to them.

Love The Smuggler, The Bounty Hunter Super Soldier, and Space Ape I got in the mail today. Can't wait to get the Kendo Masters.

Hey folks, Just a "heads up"---It would be good to be careful not to produce what appears to be Lucasfilm product, or other figs that are clearly figures that would require a license. Having done a great deal of licensed product for movie companies, I can tell you they take the ownership of their IP very seriously, and will take legal action if they catch you. Changing the names won't necessarily save you if the image is like theirs.

Hey, Dan, The link is up above on this page. For some reason it won't underline even though I have it underlined in the edit page. Use, the August Space Pals just below the original one.

Update on shipping: I ran out of the original 30 sets sent and am waiting for a restock to fill the rest. I ordered it 2 weeks ago and checked on it again on Monday of this week. They said it was on the table that day, so I expect them soon.

I'll update you guys again on Monday if they haven't arrived over the weekend.

Ok, I wrote too soon. They arrived this afternoon. I'll have these packaged and ready to ship by Tuesday.

I've been painting these little guys one by one for a few months, and I just wanted to drop you a note and say what amazing work they are. A pleasure to paint and a joy to display :)

I received my miniatures today and I'm truly baffled by the quality of these sculpts. Great job!
